Modern Theoretical Discourses

The course contents are provided on the basis of knowledge of all the influential philosophical schools of Chinese tradition and the conceptual development of their central representatives, as well as upon the knowledge of methodological specifics of the Chinese theoretical thinking. The emphasis is on understanding the concepts of immanent transcendence, the principle of complementarity, the structural relationship of nature and society, and the transition from the holistic discourse to the germs of dualistic thought. The focus is on the specific elements that are authoritative defining the development of the Chinese theoretical thought in the period of modernization. In this context, the course will provide necessary knowledge about the theoretical consequences of Western thought influences and about the Chinese attempts to synthesize them with the Chinese tradition of ideas.
