Environment during the Pleistocene and the beginning of the Holocene period. Connection between human development and the formation of first technologies and cultures. Studying characteristics of technologies and cultures of different human species that existed during the Palaeolithic period, and the presentation of their distribution around the world. Archaeological and genetic evidence of progress of the modern human expansion around the world. Arrival of modern humans in Europe and the extinction of Neanderthals. Overview of Palaeolithic and Mesolithic art and beliefs. Transition between the Mesolithic and Palaeolithic periods at the end of the Pleistocene - environmental changes and human adaptation to the new situation, along with an overview of Mesolithic cultures. A brief overview of Slovenian Palaeolithic and Mesolithic.
