The introductory chapter is aimed to provide a short history of the discipline, its subject and research. Development of the discipline is presented comparatively for its development in Slovenia, Europe and the world. Explanation of basic notions of sciences concludes the introduction. The major part of the lectures, seminar and practical classes is devoted to condensed explication and examples of anthropological methods. Put forward are methods and techniques of ethnographic research: participant observation, fieldwork, fieldnotes, interviews, other sources, documentation and classification of the sources, observation and experiment. The final part of the course presents basic overview of approaches in explanation, both qualitative and quantitative. Hermeneutic analysis of texts is followed by basic introduction to statistics and scales. The final chapter presents basic disciplinary theoretic models developed so far.
