Cultural Heritage

In the course, students will become familiar with the fundamental notions and concepts of heritage and related terms (such as the past, history, tradition, individual and social/collective/cultural memory...); the most important institutions and organizations as well as strategies, conventions and laws that are important for the preservation of cultural (and natural) heritage. Students will learn about the historical overviou on approaches to the conception, preservation and presentation of cultural and nattural heritage. We will dedicate to modern approaches, researches and topics in understanding, documentation, preservation, presentation, use and politics of heritage as well as its decay (e.g. inheritance processes, collaborative approaches in the preservation, care and presentation of heritage, understanding heritage as commodity, the role of heritage in tourism, critical approaches to heritage...).
