Lecturer(s): prof. dr. Muršič Rajko

Equality is one of the fundamental contradictions and problems in human society. On the one hand, we have self-evident inequality, and on the other, different notions of equality.

The course will present certain examples of egalitarian societies in the past and the present. He will also present some views on egalitarianism developed in the more radical directions of anthropology (Radical Anthropology Group) and the evolutionary basis of egalitarianism in women's coalitions. The material will also include more modern research on the commons, community and commoning. The course will pay special attention to egalitarianism within subcultural, primarily music-related practices and also online communities and egalitarian practices in radical politics and culture. It will also look at communal and egalitarian practices in traditional rural life.
