Assoc. Prof. Dr. Igor Žunkovič

Igor Žunkovič earned his doctorate in 2013 with a dissertation titled Catharsis and Cosmic Consciousness. From 2010 to 2013, he was a junior researcher, then a researcher, and since 2018, an assistant at the Department of Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. In 2018 and 2019, he served on the committee for the Grum Award, and from 2021 to 2023, on the committee for the Kresnik Award. He is the author of the scientific monographs Stories That Write Us and Evolution and Literature, and the translator of the monographs On the Origin of Stories by Brian Boyd and How Literature Plays with the Brain by Paul B. Armstrong. His research interests include the history of drama, neurocognitive literary studies, scientific approaches to literature, the poetics of Gregor Strniša, literature and physics, the history of the relationship between literature and science, literary Darwinism, and more.
